How to Plan a Girls’ Trip to Waco You’ll never Forget

Weekend trips with your girlfriends are like feeding your soul; am I right?  This post will tell you all about how to plan a girls’ trip to Waco you’ll never forget.

I just returned home from the best girls’ weekend.  I met up with 11 other amazing bloggers as we ventured to Waco, Texas, home of all things Fixer Upper.  I had only met a small handful of these women in real life before, but as you know, forming relationships on Instagram is indeed real and sharing with each other our creative ideas in person can be life-changing.

The Best Place to Stay in Waco

Our weekend began at The Green Door Lofts.

Appropriately named after the green door that greets you, this exquisite lodging sits smack dab in the middle of Austin Avenue.  It’s in walking distance from all your must-see places including The Silos, The Findery, Spice Village and Linen & Cake, just to name a few.  It will accommodate parties large or small.  There is a main four-bedroom loft, several one- and two-bedroom lofts, and even a swimming pool.  You can check out there website right here for all the deets.

Shopping Recommendations

Even though Waco and Magnolia Market go hand in hand, there are so many other places to visit while you are in Waco.

Spice Village hosts a plethora of specialty shops under one roof so you will definitely want to carve out time to spend here and you probably won’t leave empty-handed.

The Findery is one of my absolute favorite places to visit.  It’s a stone’s throw away from Magnolia and definitely has made a name for itself.  The history of this over 100-year-old Percy Medicine Building that houses this magnificent shop is worth reading about and you can find that right here.  You will be able to snag new and old home decor items and see a warehouse full of custom finds.

Don’t forget to stop by Linen & Cake on Austin Avenue while you’re in town and say hello to its owners Theresa and Bret.  This is Waco’s newest home decor store and it really packs a punch with their own hand-poured candles and other beautiful home decor.

Magnolia Silos

Of course, most likely the first thing you will be looking for when you pull into town are the silos making themselves known in the Waco skyline.  I remember the first time I saw them a couple of years ago, I literally started hyperventilating and once I got closer, they did not disappoint.

You’ll want to make sure you have plenty of time to take it all in.  After you browse and shop in the Magnolia store, make sure you sit down on the lawn or on one of the many picnic tables scattered around and enjoy the grounds.  The gardens, when they are in season, will take your breath away and your mouth will surely be watering when you smell the aroma of the many food trucks on the property.  Don’t forget to grab a cupcake from the bakery before you leave.  You might find the line a bit long, but I guarantee you, these sweet treats are definitely worth the wait.

What to Wear

If you’re wondering what to wear while on your girls’ weekend and thinking you might need something knew for a night out on the town while you’re in Waco, be sure and stop by Courtney’s Boutique.  They hosted a wine and cheese shopping night for us while we were there and we couldn’t have had more fun with Vicki, Courtney and the rest of the staff.  To say our bags were full when we left is an understatement.

My Favorite Places to Eat

You certainly won’t go hungry during your stay in Waco.  In fact, you might go home carrying a little extra baggage, and I don’t mean the shopping kind.  At least I know I did.  Here’s some of my restaurant picks:

Klassy Glass Wine Bar & Bistro is a great place for casual dining with your girlfriends.  It’s located in historic downtown Waco right across the street from The Green Door Lofts.

If you’re looking for top-notch steak and seafood, 135 Prime and Brazos Bar and Bistro boast fine dining and are my favorites.

If you want to satisfy your sweet tooth while in Texas, check out Pie Peddlers and their amazing menu of fresh-baked pies.  For a quick and easy lunch, 900 Degrees Pizza has the best wood-fired pies.

Start Your Day Off Right

For Breakfast you can’t beat Harvest on 25th.  What a diamond in the rough this place is.  The French toast had my mouth watering and will leave you wanting to come back for more.

Of course you’ll want to visit Magnolia Table.  It’s important to know that it’s a top destination spot for visitors so don’t be in a hurry.  Arriving early is a must, like as soon as the doors open, but a two-hour wait or more is not uncommon.  The French toast and donut bites are my absolute favorite.  Your chances of seeing Chip or Jo here are rare, but you just might run into Jo’s mom who was more than gracious to stop by our table for a chat and pose for a photo..

Hitch a ride

If you want to forget about driving altogether while in town, Legacy Limo is who I recommend. We used their service for a special night out and it was so much fun.

Cultivate Your Friendships

Few people understand the bonds we form online with our Instagram friends.  Unless you’re part of this extraordinary community, it’s hard to understand.  Whether you’re planning your next girls’ trip to Waco or some other destination, I encourage you to get that group together.  The amount of knowledge you will receive by bouncing ideas off of each other and sharing your dreams will leave you not only with a full creative bucket, but with lifelong encouraging and supportive friends that just “get it.”

Don’t you think it’s time to plan your trip to Waco…
