That’s A Wrap

Have you started wrapping your Christmas presents yet?  Or maybe a better question is, have you even started shopping yet?

I may or may not be the latter in the question above.  (YIKES)  I always feel like when I get to the gift wrapping stage of the holidays, though, it’s all downhill from there and wrapping the presents is actually one of my very favorite things about Christmas.  Do you all have a theme when it comes to wrapping?  Or do you grab your leftover gift wrap scraps from last year?

Easy Alternative

I don’t know what it is about me, but I like all my gifts to coordinate.  Call me “crazy,” I don’t know, but I usually start with a roll of Kraft paper, assorted ribbon and embellishments and, then, grab a package of markers and you’ve got yourself all the supplies you need.  Kraft paper is a great alternative to wrapping paper.

I’m not sure when I started decorating packages.  It was probably that year I put off wrapping until Christmas Eve and was forced to use whatever supplies I had on hand.  But…that’s when the tradition began and everyone always looks forward to seeing how their gifts are wrapped.

Be Creative

I never know exactly what I’m going to do when I start wrapping.  Searching wrapping ideas on Pinterest is always a great idea if you are stumped and really get your creative juices going.

Lunch Sacks

These little lunch sack wraps are a favorite of mine that make an appearance every year.  Grab your sack and cut the top and then let your imagination do the rest and turn it into your favorite gingerbread house.

If you can grab a roll of coordinating wrapping paper like this black and white stripe and tie it with red silk ribbon, your gifts become little pieces of art.

Don’t Forget To Embellish

Add an extra touch by embellishing each package with a candy cane or other sweet candy treat.  What about a jingle bell or pinecone?  Or even a bottle brush tree like you see here.  Layering ribbons and twine and adding an ornament is a great way to finish off a gift too.  I have a DIY for a buffalo check ornament right here that would be adorable tied onto a gift.

For me, the wrapping detail is part of the gift.

So whether you like wrapping gifts or not, I hope this gave you some inspiration and ideas the next time you reach for the scissors and tape.
