Tasty Christmas Treats For Your Furry Friends

Bake up a sweet treat for your pups this holiday season with these homemade dog treats.  There’s no reason they should be left out of the festivities.

(This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Olive and Linen.

The opinions and text are all mine.)

I’m getting together today with a fabulous group of ladies and Olive & Linen to share with you some of our favorite Christmas recipes.  You will want to visit my entire friend list at the end of this post for all the yummy recipes.

And since most of the treats we bake up over the holidays aren’t dog-friendly, I decided to do something a little different this year and make something extra special just for them.  We love our fur babies and with a brand new one in our house, (yes, the big one, Harley, is the puppy at 4 1/2 months old), we wanted to make sure they were included in all of the celebrating.  I mean, come one, how can you resist these two?

So here we go.  This is the easiest recipe you’ve ever made and there are only four ingredients.

INGREDIENTS

1 small overripe banana

1/2 cup peanut butter

1/3 cup chicken or beef stock

1 cup wheat flour

(You can see Harley waiting patiently in the background.  He knows these treats are for him.)

If you’re a messy baker like I am, you’re going to want to keep your hand towels on hand and close by.  Mine pictured here are from Olive & Linen.  Aren’t they gorgeous?  Almost too pretty to use, but I guarantee you when I’m baking, they get a good workout.  I can’t even begin to choose a favorite.  I love them all.  You can see their entire collection of Turkish hand towels right here.  They also offer gorgeous throws as well.  You can see my pink and white one below.

INSTRUCTIONS

Preheat your oven to 350 and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.  In a large mixing bowl, mash your banana. Now, add the remaining ingredients and mix well.  Roll your dough out with a rolling pin.  Mine was a little sticky so I dusted with some wheat four before I rolled out the dough.   After you’ve reached your desired thickness, grab your dog bone cookie cutter and start cutting the biscuits.  I purchased my cookie cutter at Walmart.  You can find it right here.

Bake your dog bone treats on the parchment paper for approximately 12 minutes.  Depending on how thick you have rolled out your dough, the time may vary just a bit.  One recipe should make approximately 24 biscuits.

Let them cool completely on the cookie sheet before you treat your pups.

I have to say, at this point in the process, the waiting got to be too much and the taste testers were lined up eager to give them a try.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, this one says it all.  Charlie wouldn’t sit still long enough to shoot a still photo and Harley? Well, Harley’s another story.

As you can see, Harley immediately knocked the bucket over and dug right in.  Don’t worry, though.  I didn’t let either one of them eat too many.

You can clearly see both pups love these.  They are soft to the touch but do crisp up just a bit after they are out of the oven.  You can store them easily in an airtight container in your pantry for up to 12 months, but I’m pretty sure once your pups get a taste of these biscuits, they won’t be around very long.

To say thank you this holiday season, Olive & Linen want to give three of you a $100 gift card to their shop where you can find these amazing Turskish hand towels, throws and so much more.  All you have to do to enter is leave a comment here with the name of your favorite recipe for the holidays.  Now, go check out some of my friends favorite recipes for the holidays.
