Curb Appeal
What’s the first thing that gets your attention when you drive or walk by a home? It’s great curb appeal, isn’t it? A warm, inviting porch is what I strive for. I want people to want to come sit on my porch swing and share a cup of coffee, a glass of wine, or in the case below, a fresh glass of cold apple cider.

Perfectly Imperfect
As you can see in any of my porch pics, the condition of the paint is far from perfect. I struggled for a long time with ever even sharing it because to me, it just looked like a mess. I painted it several years ago a bright red (you know, back in the day when we were all going through that red phase) and the paint just never held up. I have plans to repaint it in the near future but the task of sanding it and painting seems so daunting and it’s not on the top of my priority list right now. I’ve become comfortable with the fact that it just adds charm to the farmhouse feel of my 100-year-old home. One of these days I’ll get to it.

Add Texture
A great way to bring texture into your space is by adding pillows. One can never have enough pillows and that includes on the porch swing. They definitely cozy up the space. I added this DIY sandwich board, also, welcoming Fall to our home. Do you have an old rug that no longer works inside the house? Bring it on out. It covers a portion of my chippy paint and warms up the space.

Color
Give me ALL the mums. I mean seriously in EVERY color. I love sitting on the porch being surrounded with all the things I love. Flowers included. They make for a great accessory scattered all around.
Pumpkins and Hay Bales
So gather your pumpkins and hay bales and all things fall. It’s easy to create your space. You can read some of my tips and tricks for outdoor spaces right here. I like to call it “layering” pumpkins, but to me the more pumpkins, the merrier. And if you don’t want to buy them at your local market, check out my DIY painted pumpkin tutorial. It’s a budget-friendly way to keep your pumpkins year after year.
