Home Reno Challenge – Week 1

Welcome to the Jeffrey Court Home Renovation Challenge.  This is week 1 and it’s Demo Day.

I am so excited to be teaming up with 11 other bloggers and Jeffrey Court Tile to bring you this fun challenge.  You guys can follow along with us as we compete over the next six weeks and watch us redo a space in our home showcasing Jeffrey Court Tile.  You guys will even get a chance to vote on your favorites every week.  PICK ME!!!!

You’re probably wondering what in the world I have left in my 100 year old home to demo, right? Well when the opportunity to participate in this challenge came about, I told my husband, “We’ve got to find someplace to replace tile in this house because I’m doing this.”  So here we are.  The master bedroom it is and our fireplace is getting a purdy makeover. Let’s take a look at some before, unedited photos.

And maybe some of you are asking what is wrong with this space?  Well, can you say “BORING”?  The massive fireplace is way too heavy, the windows need new treatments, the DOG bed at the end of the bed that the dog never sleeps in needs to go and the walls, most definitely, need a new color.  I mean, who picked this color?  Don’t get me wrong.  I love green, but when the green looks like it was color-matched from a baby’s diaper, come on people, we need to pick a new color.

The Demo Begins…

So over the past week, I have been ripping out the old tile and the columns that hold up the mantel. I am here to show you that tiling doesn’t have to be intimidating and even the smallest of projects can have a huge impact and really change a space.

Goals…

So my goal for this space is to make the fireplace the focal point of the room without being the elephant in the room.  Nobody likes an elephant staring at you while you’re sleeping.  Revamping this fireplace has been something I’ve wanted to do for a long time.  I’m so excited you will be following along and watch how this tile project will change the look of the entire space.

Okay guys, I need to finish with the demo so be sure and check back next week to see the progress and follow along in my stories on Instagram for updates.

Don’t forget to cast your vote starting April 3.  Thanks for following along.
