 Make A Statement

To begin creating a Farmhouse Christmas look for the Holidays, I knew I wanted to make a statement by adding handcrafted items to create the merriest of interiors.   The Christmas season is one of my very favorite times to craft.  There’s just something in the air that really gets my creative blood flowing and a Farmhouse Christmas was definitely tailor-made for me.   Hobby Lobby was my one and only stop.  They are definitely my go-to store for everything I need.

Centerpiece

I started by envisioning the mantel garland as I knew this would be my centerpiece and would set the tone for my  Farmhouse Christmas style.  So as I was perusing the aisles at Hobby Lobby, I allowed myself to go beyond the Christmas section to bring my vision to life.

When I start a project, I never quite know where it’s going to take me.  Rarely does it end the way I’ve pictured it in my mind.  This paper garland is just that.  It’s made entirely from scrapbooking papers I found at Hobby Lobby in various Christmas designs.  I mean, have you seen their scrapbooking section? So I started by picking out my favorite sheets of Christmas paper and by simply cutting out leaf shapes and hot-gluing them to wire ribbon, I knew I could make it as ornate or as simple as I wanted.  I just kept cutting and gluing until I achieved a look that was satisfying to me.  I, then, added the jingle bells, greenery and ribbon.  The embellishments, all from Hobby Lobby, give it a more festive feel, don’t you think?  The canned Christmas trees and “Note to Santa” made from a roll of kraft paper adorn the mantelpiece to achieve a Farmhouse Christmas look.  Remember to mix textures when you’re decorating to bring character and interest to your space.  Browse all the aisles at Hobby Lobby to find embellishments that will fit right in to your decor.  This metal envelope was in their farmhouse metal aisle and it fits perfectly into my Christmas decor.

All the Trimmings

I like to surround myself with items that I love and the decorations on my tree this year represent my favorite things and can be easily found at Hobby Lobby.  The Olive Buckets, Red Bead Garland, DIY raffia poufs and Mod Podge wooden letters make for great Christmas Tree Swag.  I mean, if you like it, buy it, tie some ribbon on it and hang it on the tree.  I love olive buckets so it made perfect sense to hang these Hobby Lobby beauties on my tree.  The Stamped Kraft Paper Ribbon draws your eye up the tree to the explosion of Berry Picks at the top.

Dress Up A Simple Ornament

If you have a favorite ornament, don’t just limit it to your tree.  Dressing up something you love can really make a statement like this deer ornament that literally stopped me in my tracks this season at Hobby Lobby.  I knew right away he was coming home with me.  I thought he deserved special attention so I mounted him on this Tobacco Basket and used the bells and wreath to make sure he was all decked out for the Holidays.  Now he’s not just an ornament on the tree, but he’s literally taking center stage.

Also, use what you already have.  Not all decor has to be seasonal.  This signage was made awhile back by using my Silhouette Cameo but by adding a DIY jingle bell garland, I simply upgraded an everyday item to something merry and bright.  Throwing in Christmas pillows is also a great way to add festive flavor and Hobby Lobby has a great selection of holiday pillows this year for you to choose from.

Last But Not Least…

In the end, the most important thing to remember is create a gathering space where family can relax and enjoy each other’s company.  With all of the Holiday decor choices that Hobby Lobby has to offer, I have no doubt you will find your Farmhouse niche. Don’t forget, you can go here to grab your Hobby Lobby coupon and Happy Shopping.
