Fall Mantle Decorating Ideas

Farmhouse Mantel

Fall mantel

Are you that person that patiently waits for pumpkin season and all the pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin candles, pumpkin bread and whatever else pumpkins weasel their way into?  I love decorating for fall and pulling out all these glorious decor items but don’t get anywhere near my belly.  Yes, I’m one of those few people that cannot stand the taste of pumpkin.  (Oops, did I just say that out loud?)  That might be a sacrilege for some people and to you, I truly apologize.  However, with that being said, fall is one of my favorite seasons to decorate and fall mantels are at the top of my list so let’s talk about Fall mantel decorating ideas.

Color and Texture

No matter what your fall palette is this season, the two words to remember when decorating are “color” and “texture.”  Mixing wood tones and metals with your pumpkins really gives space a dimensional aspect.  An easy way to celebrate the season is try bringing natural elements in from the outside.   Your best seasonal decor is right out your front door.  Pair those elements with something chippy like corbels or candlesticks and your rustic vibe has been set.

Signature Piece

Decorating a mantel can, also, be as easy as finding a large signature piece.  My giant black clock from Magnolia isn’t fall-specific, but it definitely takes center stage with fall all around it.

Try swapping out one signature piece for another.  By replacing the clock with this Dead & Breakfast sign from Oh, Sweet Skye, the mantel takes on a different look.

You don’t need to incorporate orange into your decor in order for it to say “fall.”  This mantel focuses on texture and warm tones to welcome the season.  This fall farmhouse wreath from Floral Treasure is a showstopper and doesn’t need much around it to grab your attention.  Sometimes simple is more.  Sometimes more is more.  There is no hard and fast rule.  Do what you love and that’s all that matters.  Layering is something I love to do whether it’s layering garlands (two garlands are definitely better than one) or layering this wreath over the window, it brings out dimension that wasn’t there before.

So now it’s your turn.  It’s time to pull out your fall decor and beginning with your mantel is a great place to start.  For more fall Inspo, be sure and follow me over on Instagram.
