Fall Color Palette

Whether you want to embrace it or not, the dog days of summer are coming to an end.  Most of mamas have sent your kids off for another year of school and you will soon be thinking about pumpkin kisses and harvest wishes.  What will your fall color palette be this year?

Neutral or Traditional

How far out in advance do you plan your decorating?  Do you just stay with the same ol’ same ol’ as last year, or do you like to change it up?  I like to think that I’m somewhat of a traditionalist when it comes to fall decor.  I am partial to the vibrant colors that so boldly encore the end of summer as the trees get ready for their long winter’s nap.  There have been years I’ve decorated with neutrals, but I always come back to the familiar colors of fall.

Soft But Impactful

When I’ve decorated with neutral colors in the past, it has proven to be soft but very impactful.  By saying that, I mean, it can still make a huge statement.  Mixing the soft colors and textures will really wow your guests.

Combining creams, light blues and greens is a great way to welcome in the season.  Pile them together on a tray and it makes a great  portable centerpiece for a table.  I created this tablescape last year and absolutely loved it.  You can visit that post right here.  But a return to the traditional colors this year is what I look forward to.

The Best Of Both Worlds

If you’re not sure which direction to go, mixing soft and bold colors is absolutely acceptable.  You can still have the best of both worlds.  Rich oranges and soft blues can balance each other out when styling a space.  This colors adorning this mantel definitely show that opposites do attract.  Try mixing any color palette with a mix of texture and they can look great together.

Cohesive Colors

The best advice I can give regarding fall decor is whatever you choose to style with, be sure and use cohesive colors.  There’s no better way to say hello to fall than to start with a great front porch and carry the same color theme all throughout your house.

Happy Fall Decorating Friends.  I can’t wait to see what you do this year.
