Classic Book Page Leaf DIY

Oh, boy, this gets me so excited. It wouldn’t be a new season without a book page leaf DIY and this year I’ve come up with something new that you’re all going to want to make as well. I’m calling this one my Classic Book Page Leaves DIY.

Book page stems

Call them “stems” or “picks” or whatever you want, these add so much interest to your already-existing garlands. Let’s dive right into the project and not waste any time in getting started.

Supplies you will need

First, you’re going to need three different sized leaves for this project. If you don’t have any good trees in your yard with big leaves, I’m including a free printable template right here that I found online that you can use instead.

Let’s make some leaves

Secondly, cutting out all of your leaves at once tends to save time, so you’ll first need to determine how many stems or picks you want and that will determine how many leaves you need. I used five leaves per stem to start and I made five stems so if I do the math correctly, that is 25 paper leaves I will need for this project.

Once you get your leaves cut, we’re next going to attach them to the floral wire. In doing this, you’re going to need your glue gun good and hot.

Here’s how to make the stems

Draw a bead of glue down the center of your leaf with your glue gun and set the floral wire right on top of it. Once that is done, add a little more glue to the edges of the leaf, grab a second leaf and place it right on top of the other one like this above.

You’re ready to decorate

And there you have it, your first leaf. Repeat the process for four more leaves and, then, just twist the wires together to make a stem and you’re ready to decorate. You can, also, use floral tape to hold everything together, but it’s really not necessary. You can see how I did it below. You’ve just finished your classic book page leaves tutorial. Now the fun begins.

Lastly, once all of your stems are made, just tuck them into your favorite garlands, wreaths or vase. If you’re looking for new fall decor, this Pepperberry cream and brown garland and wreath combo from Purple Rose Home that I have here are my favorites for fall. You can find the Garland here and the wreath here.

I hope this Classic Book Page Leaf DIY gives you a fresh idea to spruce up a garland you already have or even if you’re buying a new one. Check out another post I wrote about a book page garland right here.

In conclusion, don’t forget to pin this DIY on your Pinterest page for future reference. You can follow me over there for more ideas as well.

Happy Crafting, Friends.
