Bathroom Remodel With Bed Bath & Beyond

When Bed Bath & Beyond comes knocking, you answer the door.

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Bed Bath & Beyond.

The opinions and text are all mine.

It’s safe to say that a lot of planning goes into any renovation, but when Bed Bath & Beyond reached out a couple months ago to ask if I’d be interested in doing a total bathroom remodel, it didn’t take long for me to answer, “YES.”  I was eager to get rid of my 100-year-old-time-capsule of a bathroom and bring it to modern times.

Wait, what?  Bed Bath & Beyond offers everything for a total bathroom remodel?   I had no idea.  When I started researching different products on their website, to my surprise I found everything from soap dishes to clawfoot tubs.  And even though I only had about 80 square feet to work with, I knew they offered everything I would need to make this my own personal refuge.

Start At The Beginning

To get an idea of where this remodel is going, it’s best to start at the beginning so you can see where we’ve been.

To say the least, it’s not pretty.  Oh, it’s had its share of fresh paint every few years, but the bones had never been changed and they were really showing their true age.  Truth is, this extra bathroom had been used as a storage closet for the last several years.  Out of sight, out of mind.

The Destruction Begins

We knew when we took on this task and began the destruction, it was going to mean more than new paint and fixtures.  It was going to require completely gutting the floors, walls and ceiling and putting in all new electrical and plumbing.

This not-so-fun part of the makeover was a lot of work.  And I’ll be honest.  I don’t like this part.   I get impatient and eagerly await the staging phase.  Thank goodness there is literally nothing my hubby can’t do so he took the bull by the horns and led the charge with all the dirty work.

A Piece of History

The floors really are a piece of history.  When we tore up the old linoleum, we were pleasantly surprised to see the original 100-year-old wood floors were in great shape.  Oh, who’s kidding.  We were ecstatic, jumping up and down doing a happy dance.  It was the best news ever.  Preserving their integrity and character was important so all we did was sand and apply a wax-free  shellac over top followed by two coats of floor polyurethane.   Large 12-inch white subway tile was installed on one wall and on the opposite wall, I chose to hang shiplap.   It was the hubby’s idea to paint it gray.  I love how it turned out.

During this process, all the products I had picked out from Bed Bath & Beyond began arriving.  It was like Christmas.  Opening the boxes to see what was inside was almost more excitement than I could handle.  I wanted to start installing immediately, but this is where patience is definitely a virtue.  You know that old saying, “Good things come to those who wait,”  I knew early I would be adopting this as my daily mantra throughout the entire project.

After The Dust Settles

After a couple of months of hard work when the dust finally settled, the outcome is better than we ever expected.  Working with Bed Bath & Beyond was really a dream.  We were so pleased with every product we chose for this makeover and everything you need can be found online.  I am linking my entire product source at the end of this post.
